Frederick Duncan Modzabi, Youth Age to 50 Advocate
All over the news last year we heard of doctors, teachers, etc. voicing their
grievances against the government and other governing bodies. Frederick
Duncan Modzabi was no different, what is particularly unique about him though,
is the nature of his grievance. He claims that what is considered the "youth age"
limit in Ghana is too young and should be pushed to 5o, so that at 48 he can still
be considered a young man.
Frank Osei, Musician (formerly of the music group WUTAH)
Trained as an engineer but known for his music, he was last heard on the
music scene as part of the music duo "Wutah". Fortunately or unfortunately,
before we knew it the music group we all knew and loved popularly known for
"Kotosa", "Burning Desire" and "Goosy Gander" had split. Frank Osei is now
back as a solo artiste known as AFRIYE. He is hotter than ever on the guitar
and hitting the music scene with a fresh new flavour.
Shirley Frimpong Manso, Film maker
On the Ghanaian movie scene, we hear and see so much of her work but rarely
get to know the force behind the movies "Perfect Picture", "Scorned",
"Checkmate" and "Adams Apples" to name a few. In this episode we kick it with
one of the biggest names in the movie making industry in Ghana; Shirley
Frimpong Manso as she reminisces about her childhood, how she got into movie
making and what keeps her rocking the movie industry while pregnant and
nursing. Finally, she opens up about how she stays positive despite media
slander against her.

As much as we love our holidays in Ghana, it is important that we recognize the
particularly important ones such as Farmers day. Farmers day was set aside
originally by the Ministry of Food and Agriculture for the nation to honor its hard
working farmers. This T.G.I.F. episode is dedicated to appreciating all our
farmers.

On this episode, we are not only celebrating farmers but individuals and groups
who are contributing to improving farmer's lives and ultimately the lives of
Ghanaians.
Elvis Boadi has adopted a particularly unique approach to improving the
livelihood of farmers. Have you ever thought it would be possible to live or work
in a building made of rice? Elvis Boadi, in this interview describes how he buys
rice husk from farmers and is using it to build houses in Ghana.
Hon. Kwesi Ahwoi, Minister of Food and Agriculture
In honor of farmers day T.G.I.F. is hanging out with the man who calls the
shots in the when it comes to food and agricultural; Hon. Kwesi Ahwoi. We
get to see another side of the minister as he reminisces about the good old
days in St. Augustine's, playing in a band, producing the likes of Gyedu-Blay
Ambolley, just to name a few. Best of all, in this episode he plays the piano as
a surprise gift to all farmers on this special day.

As they say "Christmas is a season of Giving" and our next guest is a
classically trained musician who is adding a local touch and "giving" twist to this
Christmas season through her Christmas album "Nubian Noel" for which she
teameds up with Hugh Masekela. For the launch of this album she organizes
a fundraiser to raise money for the "Help a Christmas Child"; a project that
throws a Christmas party for hospitalized children and an organisation that
supports street children.

In this episode, Grace finds a particularly unique solution to her struggling
banku business. Now she makes banku for banks, telecom companies,
television and radio stations, wherever and whenever you want it she is at your
door.
Joyce, The HIV Ambassador
Earlier this month, marked "World Aids Day", a day set aside to remind us all
that the fight against aids is a collective battle that concerns us all. Here in
Ghana, and in many other places, the social stigmas that people living with the
virus is still a significant issue that those of us living with the virus have to deal
with in addition to the emotional and financial trauma that comes with living with
H.I.V. Joyce Mensah shared her inspiring story several months ago, but
unfortunately due to the serious social stigmas surrounding the virus, we could
not show her face on national television. In this episode, she returns as an
H.I.V. Ambassador and this time actually insists on showing her face. This is her way of demonstrating to
Ghanaians and all H.I.V. victims and families of victims out there that there is hope and that there are people
standing up for their cause. She also catches us up what she has been up to as an H.I.V. Ambassador working with
the Ghana Aids Commission since our last interview, her son and singer in a music band.

Paulina Annim, 51 year old student
Paula Annim is a remarkable lady from Kumasi - a lady who isn't just talking but
is setting an extraordinary example - extremely passionate about education, at
the age of 50 she decided for herself that it was not too late to get her education.
At 51 years she is enrolled in class 5 and is demonstrating to young people all
over Ghana that when something is important to you - you will go through
whatever lengths to get it…
Daniel Tetteh and David Sasu, Brain Development Institute
This episode highlights a new initiative - the Brain Development Institute -
with their Memory Master Course that is teaching people how to enhance
their memory and recall power in just a few minutes.
The Memory Master Course has been in Ghana since November 2010 and is
targeted at anyone - teachers, pastors, students, actors, and presenters,
hosts that have to recall significant amounts of information on a daily basis
using techniques that have been proven and used in World Memory
Competitions. These young boys are able to recall 50 numbers in only a few minutes!

Africa
This drumming, piano playing and singing duo wowed the audience and judges
during the first season of the Amazing Child TV Africa and won first prize. And on
T.G.I.F. we love to appreciate our youth excelling.

Sherifa Gunu, Musician
Our next guest is one of the most energetic and talented women to hit the
Ghanaian music scene. At one point she was nine months pregnant and still
singing and dancing on stage! She has a particularly unique voice and style of
dancing. She is now a mother yet still as active as ever and shows us that the
north has even more to offer than guinea fowl and "pito"; they have beautiful
women with dynamite voices.

Abdul the poet blew our mind a few months ago with his rich and deeply
inspired poetry at KSM's Kwame Nkrumah show. Since then he has been
making waves with his deep and culturally rich poetry. He is back with a hot
new poem on the history of music and dance in Ghana showing us that he
has a lighter side.

You think comedy is a joke in Ghana? This young comedian takes it seriously. He has been gradually making
strides on the Ghanaian comedy scene and was recently flown to to Uganda to represent Ghana for an MNET
sponsored comedy night. Although we don't usually associate comedy with inspiration; it is always inspiring to see
young people really pushing their way through in the tough entertainment industry.
